Amazon’s Alexa speech assistant will soon notify consumers when things they’ve been eyeing go on sale.
Alexa will tell Prime users up to 24 hours in advance of impending promotions on goods in their Amazon wish list and shopping cart, as well as things tagged “saved for later” on the platform, the firm said on Thursday. The functionality will be compatible with fourth-generation and subsequent Echo smart speakers.
For example, if a client is looking at a new TV and it has been added to a wish list, Alexa will notify the customer that it will be on sale shortly. When an item goes on sale, the Amazon Echo ring turns yellow, alerting users to ask Alexa to read aloud their alerts. Customers may then ask Alexa to notify them when new discounts are available or to order products on their behalf.
The function is intended to save customers time and help them plan for huge deals, such as Prime Day. It also helps Amazon, which utilizes Echo devices to entice customers to buy additional things from the company’s website.
To use the function, deal suggestions must be enabled, which can be done by visiting the Alexa app and tapping “more,” “notifications,” “Amazon shopping,” and then “shopping recommendations.”
