Alexa Konami Code

Konami Code is a code created by Konami. Konami Komando? (Lit. “Konami Command”) is a unique button combination seen in various Konami games. It became well-known as a result of its inclusion in the NES home version of Contra (1988), which gave the player 30 free lives. Since then, the code has been ingrained in popular culture, appearing in a wide range of non-Konami games and media, including clothes, ads, and non-gaming software.

Kazuhisa Hashimoto devised the Konami Code while working on a home adaptation of the 1985 arcade game Gradius, a horizontal scrolling shooter that was published on the NES in 1986. He built a cheat code to offer the player a full set of power-ups after finding the game too tough to play through during testing (normally attained gradually throughout the game).

After Hashimoto neglected to delete the code, it was still there in the published version. The code was discovered and shared by the players. As a result, The Konami Code appeared in the series’ later sequels and spin-offs.
