ADT Doorbell Blinking Red – Reasons – How To Fix It?

My ADT camera has been in use for a while. I am aware that the LED light turns blue when everything is operating as it should.

But a few days ago, the camera all of a sudden began blinking red. I tried rebooting the system because I wasn’t sure what the problem was, but it did not work.

In addition, I read the user handbook and other troubleshooting details of the ADT doorbell but was unable to resolve the problem.

I, therefore, made the decision to research potential troubleshooting techniques online. It appears that this problem is rather typical.

Two Common reasons against ADT doorbell blinking Red:

• Battery level at a low level.
• Network connectivity issues

Quick Way to Fix It:

• Battery at low level: Recharge it immediately and see if it works.
• Network connectivity issues: Restart your internet router.

Why ADT Doorbell Blinking Red?

The ADT Doorbell Camera’s standard LED color is blue.

You won’t notice any light on the system if the bell is detached from the system for whatever reason.

When an ADT camera’s red light blinks, it usually means one of two things:

1. The doorbell is running on a low or almost empty battery
2. The doorbell is experiencing network connectivity issues

How to Check Your ADT Doorbell Camera’s Battery Status?

On your phone, you may find all the information you need about your system and its settings.

You would have downloaded the Pulse app (Andriod, IOS)during the system setup. It offers all the options and details regarding the ADT doorbell camera.

The app allows you to check the system’s battery life. You can also inspect the system’s display panel in addition to this.

First issue – The doorbell is running on a low or almost empty battery

Possible Reason- 1

Your ADT doorbell camera’s battery levels are low, and the blinking red light is likely an indication of this.

Note: Most of the time users don’t remember that the ADT doorbell battery can only be charged for a maximum of up to 3 or 4 months, it depends upon user usage, therefore it is most likely the reason of this red blinking light.

How to fix it?

• Using any MicroUSB 2.0 cord will work to recharge the batteries in the ADT Doorbell Camera.
• Connect it to the doorbell’s charging connector located behind the faceplate. The camera will need to be charged for two to three hours.

Possible Reason- 2

Over time, rechargeable batteries lose capacity. This is a result of the battery’s internal chemical reactions, which are irreversible.

Note: this could lead to a battery drain more quickly than the normal time or it could be due to a fault in battery.

How to fix it?

Here is how you can replace the batteries:

• Remove the doorbell from its holding bracket.
• Find the attached rechargeable battery pack. 
• Carefully remove the batteries and replace them with new ones.

Second Issue – The doorbell is experiencing network connectivity issues

Possible Reason -1

Check your Wi-Fi network’s issues by launching the ADT Pulse app. It’s possible that the router has a problem or that there is a signal problem as well. Another possibility is that the signal has been disabled for some reason.

How to Fix it?

In order to check for internet issues and fix them, follow the following steps:

• Check that the internet is connected properly
• Troubleshoot the network
• Try rebooting your internet connection modem/router
• Check for internet stability 
• Run an online test to gauge the network speed

Note:

• Device won’t work if a Network connection is not stable
• Ensure you have a good internet speed connection and have a smooth and efficient service.

When we perform factory reset is the last option we have when no other method as mentioned above failed to fix the ADT red blinking.

The two types of ADT doorbell are:

• Wired
• Wireless

Both have a different process to factory reset so let’s see how?

ADT Doorbell Wired Factory Reset

• Locate a small button at the back of the camera. It will be adjacent to the power charging port.
• Long press it for 15 seconds. 

Remember that it’s best to wait 1-2 minutes after turning off a device before turning it back on.

Keep the doorbell plugged in while the factory reset is being done because it will help to indicate different steps as the procedure goes on.

ADT Doorbell Wireless Factory Reset

• Locate a small button at the back of the camera. It will be adjacent to the power charging port.
• Press it for 10 seconds until the flashlight starts blinking.

Remember that it’s best to wait 1-2 minutes after turning off a device before turning it back on.

Keep the doorbell plugged in while the factory reset is being done because it will help to indicate different steps as the procedure goes on.

Important Note:

All data and information will be deleted when performing a factory reset.
