Chamberlain garage door openers built after 1993 are backward compatible with the following remote controllers. When completing the program procedures given here, push the learn button on the remote the number of times indicated in the chart below, depending on the color of the learn button on your operator or frequency.
Liftmaster 893max Programming
- Remove the visor clip and press and hold the program button on the back of the remote control until the LED light on the front of the remote turns on.
- Press and release the remote button you wish to program ___ times, as indicated below chart.
- To exit programming mode, press any remote control button except the button that was just programmed.
- Press and release the learn button on the garage door opener.
- Press and hold the remote control button programmed in step 2 until the garage door opener lights flash or two clicks are heard.
- To test, press the programmed button on the remote control
- Install the visor clip.

How to Program 893MAXMC
- Clear out the memory of the garage door opener by holding in the program button until the LED turns off
- Remove visor clip off remote control and press in program button on remote control until LED turns on
- Press and release program button on garage door opener. LED next to learn button will turn on and up arrow will start to blink
- Press the up arrow one time to select 315MHz – one beep will be heard, two times to select 390MHz, two beeps will be heard and three times for 433MHz, three beeps will be heard (not used).
- Press button on remote control until the lights on the garage door opener blink on and off
- Press a different button to take remote control out of program mode
- Install the visor clip.
